"Compel Us" - touring 2010
"Compel Us" is Loop Dance Company’s latest triple bill of dance. A collaborative works comprising a collection of pieces from established choreographers Rashpal Singh Bansal, Yael Flexer and Nina Atkinson from Loop Dance Company.
The Compel Us tour offers a tailor-made education programme containing workshops and performance projects for individuals and community groups as well as schools, colleges or professionals dance artists.
‘Endurance’ (2007) by Rashpal Singh Bansal is the mesmerising and unrelenting work dance. The fast-rising choreographer creates with an angular and momentum driven physical style, taking the audience beyond resistance and forever onward.
‘Just About Here’ (2001) by Yael Flexer. This piece is re-worked for Collection.
‘Just About Here’ is about being present - here with you, an audience and here within our bodies. Here seems permanent but it is equally a volatile and human place and in this case lasts only 21 minutes and 55 seconds
‘Private Lives: Public View’ (2007) by Nina Atkinson.
Drawing on emotive relationships Nina invites the audience to observe the breakdown of an addictive relationship. ‘Private Lives: Public View’ is a series of duets where the female cast morph complexions to perform with a male dancer, illustrating one woman’s journey.
